ABSTRACT
“What are human beings that you spare a thought for them?”. The biblicalwisdom for a new dignity of the man. Pico della Mirandola, a Renaissance’s intellectual, wrote a speech about the human dignity, quoting also the Psalm 8. The author of this article, beginning from this quotation, examines the psalm and compares not only with theanthropology of the Ancient Near East, but also with that biblical, the Old and the NewTestament. He concludes that we must recover the biblical vision, where it is said thatman cannot assert unilaterally his dignity. But, he has to acknowledge that there’s a person,“an You”, who considers him as a partner, because he has created him to his ownimage and likeness.
