Da precibus finitis a ante confecta mysteria: la prima sostanziale metamorfosi del bacio di pace

Il ritorno sulla dinamica del bacio di pace nell’epoca pre-nicena consente di confermare la saldezza del rapporto preghiera-bacio e la funzione prettamente conclusiva del bacio quale signaculum orationis o comunque concludente e perfezionante un percorso sacramentale (iniziazione, ordinazione episcopale…) o vitale (martirio). A partire da tale salda identità si procede nel tentativo di individuare le coordinate del vissuto ecclesiale che abbia consentito o addirittura richiesto un capovolgimento tale da fare del bacio di pace il momento previo alla presentazione dei doni eucaristici e all’offerta sacrificale.

From precibus finitis until ante confecta mysteria: the first substantial metamorphosis of the kiss of peace

Going back to study the dynamics of the kiss of peace in the period before the Council of Nicaea, allows to confirm the steadiness of the link between prayer and kiss, as well as the mere concluding function of the kiss as signaculum orationis or in any way as a sign that concludes and brings to perfection a sacramental way (initiation, bishop’s ordination…) or a way of life (martyrdom). Starting from this solid identity, the article continues and tries to identify the coordinates of the ecclesial background that have permitted or even required such a radical transformation that has made the kiss of peace a previous moment for the presentation of the Eucharistic gifts and for the sacrificial offering.
